After 23 years the side moldings on my 80 931 are falling off and are otherwise disgusting.

I've pulled most of them off over the last 2 weeks, leaving a thick band of adhesive and other junk on the side of the car. What's the best way to clean off this mess?

Anyone have a source for after market moldings that look like the originals? Porsche has a part number for all 10 pieces! I'd much rather buy a roll and cut my own....

Any automotive shop should have the molding.
Try wd40 and a wooden or plastic razor. Don't laugh they are available.

I left them off both cars. Park way out of the way so no one dings them.

If you can find them let me know.

To remove the adhesive use some acetone on a rag and just rub it a little. As for aftermarket replacements you can get rolls of it from http://www.jcwhitney.com.

The whole kit is available from Porsche. 477 853 995 all pre-cut to the right lengths. $139.50 retail, probably$110 garage price. These are the ones I'll be getting if I don't find 'em at Hershey.

Yeah, but cheap bastards like myself can go with something like this: http://www.sportwing.com/moldings2/moldings2.asp?type=Solid+Car+Molding
Probably won't cost more than about $20-25.
