I've put in a change to the software to take the page header pic from the 924.org front page.
Vaughan has said he is going to regularly change the pic using those sent to him when you sign up for the PCA 924 register.
So, if you haven't done so already, register and be in the draw to win fame and and... more fame by having your pride and joy displayed to the world. Even if you're not a PCA member, register your car(s).
If the board membership keeps growing at the current rate I think we'll be able to make a hostile takeover bid for the PCA by the end of the year |

According to production figures 152081 924s were produced, including Turbos, 924S's, special productions. We have 412 users some with more then one car, so we have more then 0,27% of the cars ever produced. (Ok, some users may be just fans yet, but still sounds good.)
BTW how many cars are in there in the registry? Do we have any info on that? |

hmmmm, I'm going to have to revisit this one. Pulling the pic from 924.org is causing a noticeable slowdown of the discussion board.
Problem is that the board software is now checking the 924.org site on each page load which means that when you load a new page on the board your request goes from where you are to our server in Sydney, our software fires off a request to the 924.org server somewhere in the US to grab the pic, calculate how to resize it then hands the lot to your browser which then goes back to the 924.org server in the US to actually load and resize the pic.
Can you see the basic flaw here? If the 924.org is having a bad day you get to wait twice for it to respond. On average this is adding about 1.2 seconds to the time it takes to build and send a page which might not sound much but previously the average page build time was 0.02 seconds the rest was just network delay.
I'll change the software in the next few days so it checks the 924.org site every hour or so and stores the pic here in Sydney. Which will get things back to normal |

Dude, just check it every day or week - I don't change it that often, honestly! LOL
Cache it locally...
