I'm trying to get parts for my 80 931 and a lot of places tell me that they have parts for 81 and later, but not the 80 model, whats the differences in the two? Thanks, Robert |

The things that I'm aware of are differences in the turbocharger itself and in the ignition system. If I'm not mistakin' the turbo on the later models is smaller. Ignition - most obvious difference is the earlier models have a vacuum mechanism on the side of the distributor and timing is determined (and adjusted) by the distributor. Later models have a vacuum tube running to a box under the dashboard for vacuum advance and they get timing from a crank sensor at the flywheel (timing isn't set at the distributor). |

the 80 production run had more cars than the 81 and 82 years, so parts should be easier to find.
Giv eme a shout as I can probably find you parts or an entire car

Mainly I'm looking at the intake set-up (Throttle body and intake runner to Turbo)Will the throttle body and assorted related equipment work on the 80' model?

the '81 and '82 have an o-ring sealed throttle body that has a round opening instead of the oval throttle body on the '80 that has a clamped-on rubber hose.
