Anyone know of any reputable and reliable short throw shifter kits for the 924S and where I might purchase it from? |

There's only one option I'm aware of, that everybody sells, which is the Weltmeister kit. You can buy it from Paragon Products, or Performance Products/Automotion, or Tweeks - I think they all carry it...

No, no such luck. You'd have to fabricate your own. I've seen interesting versions...

If you havn't noticed, your shifter is just a solid piece of metal. if you want a shorter throw distance, just pull the shift knob off and cut part of the shifter off. Its that simple. Its the same thing as buying a short throw from an aftermarket dealer. |

No, sorry, it's not. First thing, the short-throw kit replaces 80% of the parts in the linkage responsible for shifter slop with solid heim joints, resulting in an extremely tight-feeling, positive, shifter. Secondly, the shifter design in the 924/944 is not a screw-on knob, so re-locating a knob on this car is not so easy.

I know that. I just wondered what kind of improvement it makes. Fifty bones isn't a whole lot and it looks like a relatively easy mod. If it makes a noticeable difference, it will be worth it. Good, tight shifting is such a plus for the motoring experience.
Let us know how it works out. |
