anyone speak Norwegian to find an email address on that page? Or, has anyone corresponded with him and have his email address? I'm pretty serious about getting this going.

I have/use aircooled vw mahle forged/graphite coated pistons in my 2.0 litre ford escort motor,i use nissans L18 rod and an offset ground crank to get zero deck height.I think having a piston crown 5.4 mm down the bore is a bad idea as it turns cylinder walls into combustion chamber. That is why 931 and many turbo pistons are dished.Sure it will work, but for how long.

Yes, it's a swedish website.

It's the website for "Sidestreeters and Streetracers of Gothenburg". There's very little information about them on the website, but if you want to mail them the email adress is fredrik@winas.com.

I've also found a phone number supposedly to Racing (it's from the ad for his 931). It's to a mobile phone. If someone wants it, send me an email to sjosgard@hotmail.com.

If you need it, send me an email.

The more I look into this, the less sure I am about using these pistons. Very unfortunate considering their price.

The problem is that flat top pistons are supposed to sit flush with the top of the block in order to get some squish volume in the combustion chamber. Since these would sit down in the cylinder ~5mm, the engine would end up with no squish area at all. Racing mentioned this in one of his posts and said that high boost engines don't necessarily benefit from having a squish area. I've talked to a number of people over this past week and did quite a bit of google searching and have found noone who advocates removing the squish area from a combustion chamber. Especially so for turbo's since squish helps to avoid detonation.

Lets get some input from Racing and see what his experience is using the flat tops before we totally toss this idea out the window. Maxx, send me his e-mail, unless someone else is on it already.

nick,a couple of years ago i had some discussion with a guy that was using dodge 2.2 turbo pistons in his 931,std bore is 87mm for that engine, when i looked into it the oem mahle pistons for that engine were $80 for a set of 4,same issue with small end of the rod needing bushing but the compression height was real close which makes it easy, they are cast but the 2.2 dodge guys run high boost and drag race with these pistons with success, just food for thought,5.4mm down the bore would bring on some headgasket issues for sure,of course theres only one way to find out, mick some good info here,www.thedodgegarage.com

does anyone know the exact compression height (pin centre to deck) of the euro 931 pistons?

Knowing that would make it easy to find alternative pistons.

The JE pistons i have are 1.772 in or 45.01mm compression height, dont see them being any different than stock cast mahle etc,as for rod center to center length thats 5.670 in .

speaking of conrods, check this out

http://members.aol.com/FE3N/rods.html

it's a big list of conrod dimensions for lots of different makes and models. The 924 is even there.

Well Peter, you've been missing a long time. Did you catch any fish? What did you tell the wife?
Cheers
Geoff
