Hi guys, I'm rebuilding the front end on my 924, its a standard 4 lug, when I've pulled it down, cleaned it, removed old bushes and such, I had them lightly blasted to ready for paint, but on close inspection of the suspension arms both have a hairline crack right next to the sway bar mounts. What i was wanting to know is can I weld them safely for a fix, because if they are buggered its real hard to find these in Australia. There are plenty for the 85 and on, but they don't have the sway bar mounts _________________ 1980 924, having a full rebuild done, worked NA engine is finished ready for turbo, doing an auto to manual conversion, body kit and re-spray, full custon trim and back seats removed |

Go ahead and weld them and while you're doing that, add some material along the sides to stiffen them up and bore the new ball joints and holes in the arm for larger, stronger 8mm bolts.
If you need new arms, they are Mk1 rabbit arms with different sway bar mounts (cut yours off and weld them on to the new arms), so that might help your search but won't avoid the welding route.
Good luck! _________________ Stefan

The early cars used different mounts for the sway bars, which are much more rare (and expensive). _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 - sold

Mounts are easy to fab onto the new arms, I'll see if I can upload a photo of what I did. Be aware that the manufacturing tolerance is not good. I run nylon bushes that I got through a group buy, one fit nice and snug and the other arm had a mm clearance with the same bush. Had to pack with some shim material _________________ Over the top of skyline, total brake failure.... hit the wall at over 200 kp/h at the dipper, so anyone who has to brake for the esses is a pussy.

Sway bars are from a 968CS, slight repositioning was required but there is very little in it. Stock set up with rubbers on the drop link would work in the stock position but as I have ball joints this setup gives no binding _________________ Over the top of skyline, total brake failure.... hit the wall at over 200 kp/h at the dipper, so anyone who has to brake for the esses is a pussy.
