looks like dirty water and the places you mention seem to match with the position of the sunroof...have you verified that there is no water in there and that the drain tube is not clogged?

the leather needs to be re glued on it a bit if I remember well.
I intended to put it in my car but doesn't fit with my 1979 moonroof clamps.

Use a 944 cable, still available new, and modify the throttle body/carb end with screw on or solder on nipple

Took 1-2 practice to find the correct sized generic rivets from the store but all ended up well.

listen if you hear fuel pump when you turn the key, my vote goes to the infamous fuel pump relay again
