In that case, yes it makes all the sense to use the snailshell.
I know the audi box is crap, my higher boosted 931 mashed a 944 box under load going up on a bridge.
Good luck finding the parts.

Well i used a 944S2 drive train on a 931 engine and it worked, should work the other way around as well, meaning 931 TT and gearbox on a 944 bellhousing and clutch.

As far as i could figure out 924s were generally abused in the US and a very large amount of them are scrapped or dead/abandoned by now. Rust is not what kills the 924, the owners abuse and really bad ...

Fair point but i havent seen any car like you describe that recently sold for what you mentioned.
Point is, 924s are not a mass selling product anyway, most 924s take a long time to sell...regardless ...
