it's the lower part of the catch, the part fitted to the slam pannel. I have fitted bonnet pins now, it's an easy option, i can always fix the problem later on and fit a new bonnet.

Has anyone had to replace theirs? Mine has definately broken, i have the new one but don't know where the cable feeds through or which wheel it goes to. Can anyone help with this?

no worries. It is possible that the water pump need replacing but there was not tell tale sign, i started the car up after replacing the alternator belt and re-tensioning the cam belt, fired it up too ...
