My guess is that your A/C electromagnetic clutch is drawing too much current, causing this to fail.

Try a new A/C compressor/clutch and see if that fixes it.

Some have tried MS on 951's and have blown their engines, at least from 5+ years ago. Something about losing crank position.

I have been using Silverguard plus covers for 20 years now.

They are the only one I have found that lasts more than 1 year in the AZ sun.

Well it could be in your ignition switch.

When you are cranking it is supposed to deliver 12V directly from the battery to the coil. When not, 12V goes through another path to the coil.

Look for a "DME Test Plan". It will have what you need.

You can also search for Porsche 944 DME and there should be lots of information out there for what you want.
