Check the rotor, that small little @#$Q^$#^ screw that holds it in place, might be missing. |

It's a very good idea to send the head in first and check for warpage before assembly. You'll end up doing this job twice if warped. |

I think you have to match the period-correct AFM with the same year DME. I swapped an '88 924S DME into my '83 944 track car, didn't work until I swapped in the '88 924S AFM. |
