That's the normal way to tension, old-school. NA alternator is the same way, only more of a pain to get to...

What's the best way to access that with the turbo on the car? Remove the compressor-side intake tubing?

If you can get in there, see if you can turn the compressor wheel by hand...

On my car, that plate you have installed as a spacer between the pulley and the pump is in fact on the other side of the pulley, looking more like a washer...

I eventually broke down and swapped out my ignition box... not sure if your car uses the same part, mine (82 931 US-spec) is part # 191 905 351 A Ignition Switch Unit.

Excellent, good to hear; I saw a couple of parts on their website, but not a full kit, wasn't sure.

Keep in mind you may yet find you need pistons as well; excessive boost has been known to crack r ...
